Dr. AJ Iwasko is the owner of Waynesville Veterinary Hospital (WVH). He is a 2013 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. AJ hails from Springboro, Ohio, where he graduated from Springboro High School, and received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Wright State University. While at Ohio State, Dr. AJ worked at the WVH and was mentored by Drs. D'Amico and Studzinski. His professional interests include general orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, reproductive medicine, and dentistry. He strives to provide personalized, compassionate medicine for patients at every stage of life. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, including his wife, Cristie, and their rescued lab cross, Raleigh. He enjoys spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors, traveling and supporting his favorite sports teams, including the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Dr. Joe D'Amico is the former owner of the Waynesville Veterinary Hospital, which opened its doors in 1981. He received his veterinary degree from The Ohio State University in 1979. Prior to that, his undergraduate degree in microbiology was also attained at OSU. Dr. Joe has been a lifelong resident of the Miami Valley and is proud to provide top notch care to his patients. Professionally, Dr. Joe has a strong interest in senior and geriatric care. The increasing use of imaging modalities, including ultrasound and endoscopy, have become exciting ways to enhance senior care and diagnostics. Dr. Joe and his wife, Dee, have two children: Brian, residing in Colorado Springs, and Staci, living and working in Kettering. The D'Amicos have an Australian shepherd puppy named Susie. When not at work, Dr. Joe enjoys traveling, time with family and is a Civil War enthusiast.
Dr. Ruth Miller graduated from Miami University in 1982 with a degree in Philosophy and from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. When she joined the Waynesville Veterinary Hospital, she brought with her 25 years of practice experience. Her specialties include laser surgeries, soft tissue surgeries and orthopedic cases. Dr. Ruth trains dogs to compete in agility and spends a lot of time hiking and walking. She enjoys gardening and antiquing as well. She has 2 dogs; Cari a corgi, and Nimoy, a canaan dog, as well as 2 beautiful cats.
Dr. Jody Strong was a graduate of Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Dr. Jody grew up in the small town of Loudonville, Ohio, and received an Honors degree in Biology from Marietta College in 1996. After graduating from Veterinary School in 2000, she worked at a practice in Xenia before coming to WVH. To complement her veterinary degree, Dr. Jody attained Fear Free Certification in 2018.
Professionally, Dr. Jody has special interest in surgery, internal medicine, dentistry, and providing low stress veterinary care with careful attention to detail. She looks forward to providing gentle and thorough care at WVH.
Since 2000, Dr. Jody has lived in the Waynesville community with her husband and three sons who both attend Waynesville schools. The family has a rescued German shepherd mix named Gibbs and a lab-beagle mix named Gemma. When not busy with her kids, Dr. Jody pursues her interests in birdwatching, gardening, canoeing, and genealogy.
Dr. Christy Susec graduated in 1995 from Denison University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She attended The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2000. Previous to attaining her DVM, Dr. Christy interned with Dr. Joe and Dave for several years. Her focus is primarily on preventative medicine, as she enjoys following a pet from puppy/kittenhood to adulthood. She is married with three daughters, and keeps a very busy schedule. If she can find the time, Dr. Christy loves to read and is active in her church as well. Her four legged kids include Horton, a standard poodle and Foo, a shih tzu, two cats: Luna and Spooky, and two ferrets, two guinnea pigs, and a rose breasted cockatiel.
Dr. Dave Studzinski recently retired from Waynesville Veterinary Hospital but continues to be an important part of the Waynesville Veterinary Hospital family. He grew up in Dayton and attended Alter High School. He is a graduate of Wright State University and The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been employed as aveterinarian with the Waynesville Veterinary Hospital since 1990. Prior to that, Dr. Dave worked at the practice for 7 years while attending college and veterinary school. He now resides in Springboro with his wife, Stacy. They have three children: Kelsey, DJ and Travis. Dr. Dave enjoys all aspects of small animal practice, but especially likes the team oriented approach that is present at the Waynesville Veterinary Hospital. He has special interests in ultrasonography and endoscopy. When Dr. Dave is not working, he likes to spend his time fishing for striped bass or trout in Tennessee. Although some people might describe his interest in fishing as obsessive, he prefers the term 'passionate'. Dr. Dave is also an avid photographer. His work has typically concentrated on sports (especially ice hockey) and nature shots while out on the water. The Studzinskis have a golden retriever, Ruby, who is an energetic and enthusiastic swimmer and dock jumper.
